What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Uneven skin texture can be a frustrating problem to have. Over-the-counter skincare products can only do so much to help you get rid of your fine lines, wrinkles, skin damage, and acne scarring. Laser skin resurfacing is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that allows our patients to treat their problematic skin at its source, rather than covering up the problem with serums and creams. Laser skin resurfacing is often referred to in two categories – ablative and non-ablative. Ablative skin resurfacing provides patients with a more smooth and refreshed appearance by targeting the outermost layers of skin, while non-ablative lasers heat up the deeper layers of skin. Both ablative and non-ablative lasers provide dramatic results over a series of several quick treatments with minimal downtime or recovery period.

How Much does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

The price of your laser skin resurfacing treatment will vary depending on the type of treatment you choose, size of your treated area, and the extent of treatment needed to help you achieve your desired results. To get a better idea of how much your laser skin resurfacing treatment will cost, come in for a private consultation with Dr. Amy B. Lewis and her staff.

What are the Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing?

There are many benefits to getting laser resurfacing treatments at Lewis Dermatology & Associates, including:

  • Minimally invasive treatment
  • Minimal downtime and recovery period
  • Improves uneven skin texture
  • Smooths away fine lines and wrinkles

What Can I Expect During my Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment?

Before your laser skin resurfacing treatment begins, Dr. Amy B. Lewis will cleanse your skin and apply a topical anesthetic to your treated area, typically the face. This is to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible throughout the entirety of your treatment. Once numb, Dr. Lewis will strategically and carefully apply the laser to your treated areas. The entire treatment process typically takes under an hour to complete, after which patients are able to return to their regularly scheduled activities.

What Results Can I Expect from Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The recovery period needed for your laser skin resurfacing treatment will depend on the type and intensity of the laser treatment you choose to receive. Healing from your laser treatment may take anywhere between three and 10 days depending on the laser used, during which the skin will be red and sensitive similar to the sensation of a sunburn. You will be able to see visible results immediately after recovering from your laser resurfacing treatment, with dramatic results after a consistent schedule of regular treatments.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Skin Resurfacing?
